Q: How do I get the lowest airfare possible?
I'm planning on traveling from Atlanta to Los Angeles from July 30 to August 3. I've been checking airfare, and it's too expensive. Are there any tips for getting the lowest airfare possible? (I've been checking the airlines' websites--I'm unfamiliar with Travelocity, Orbitz, etc.) Should I wait until the last minute to book it, go through a travel agent, etc.? Any advice is appreciated!
Also forgot to add--my dates are flexible by 1 - 2 days either way, and I'll be traveling with a 4-year-old.

Q: What is the average airfare to Nepal from Chicago?
My husband and I are planning to adopt a child from Nepal and may have to travel there twice. We don't know what time of the year it will be and need to estimate airfare expenses.
A: hey...I actually flew from Chicago to Nepal last summer! First I flew to LA say a couple hundred...and then my flight to Thailand was $1700 but I was with a group so we may have gotten a discount. Then I think the final flight to Nepal was a couple hundred. Sorry this probably isn't much help...prices flux so much depending on when you buy your ticket so it's really hard to say. I'd put aside a few thousand for each of you just in case and then search like mad for a seat sale. I think that's so amazing you want to adopt a Nepali child. They are some of the most beautiful people in the world!! And if you've never been to Nepal it's one of the most mind-blowing, beautiful places in the world!! Good luck!
Q: Do online airfare tickets go up the more that you search them?
I have been searching for a multi-city airfare through all the major discount airfare sites. And each time that I search the same dates the prices change. One day it will be $707, the next $701, a few days later its $658 a couple hours later its $713....I dont get it. Is it the time of day or that I keep searching the location causing price & demand to go up?
A: It's neither.
Airfares are changed constantly by the airlines based on supply and demand as well as what their competitors are charging. If a flight is selling well, the airline may reduce the number of discount seats and/or raise the prices. If a flight has too many unsold seats, the airline may increase the number of discount seats and/or reduce prices. If a competitor raises or lowers prices, the airline will usually match the changes.
Predicting an airfare is like predicting tomorrow's stock prices. They might be higher. They might be lower. No one knows for certain. It's frustrating for travelers, but that's how it works.
Q: Where can I get the cheapest airfare from Chicago to Cebu, philippines?
Travelling to Cebu early next year to visit family and friends, no definite date yet, just looking for a good price for airfare.
A: Try www.wholesale-fares.com. They specialize in international travel. I would avoid late January - early February since plane tickets are more expensive due to people flying home for lunar new year.
Q: How do I search the internet for companion airfare tickets?
What is the best site to find companion airfare or companion airline tickets? Is there one always available for somebody to search? Do specific airline sites (e.g. Delta) have them? Are they really worth it, or do they jack the price up so much that you are better paying for two of the separately? I have typed in companion airfare, Southwest Airlines companion airfare, and companion airfare from Birmingham, AL. They were done in separate searches but nothing gave me a good solid answer.
A: The reason that you didn't get an answer is that airlines don't typically offer companion fares anymore. It's been many years since I've seen one.
They weren't necessarily good deals even when they were offered. In order to qualify for the discounted companion fare, you had to buy one ticket at a higher fare. You could not buy the cheapest fare and get a companion discount. It was often cheaper to skip the companion deals and just buy two tickets at the least expensive fare.
Your best bet is to go to a shopping website such as kayak.com. Kayak searches many different website and combines the results. Then, just buy two of the cheapest fares that you can find.
Q: Cheap Airfare to Greece for Honeymoon: Any suggestions for how to do this from San Francisco?
I am planning a honeymoon from September 17th to October 13 from San Francisco (SFO) to Athens Greece. Airfare is currently about $1200 round trip per person. I have about 170,000 American miles and 230,000 United miles, but can't find a frequent flier ticket to get me to Europe. Do people have ideas about cheap bargins to Europe (e.g. travel to London and then use ryanair to get to Greece). Which have worked really well for you to defray the cost?
A: Try paying for a ticket from SFO to NY and then using your miles from there. You may find there is more availability. It could also be the days you are travelling. Try alternate dates to see if that helps. Or try to get to the continent with miles then pay for the way to Greece.
Q: What is a reasonable price to pay for airfare to Ireland?
I want to visit Ireland in October, and prices right now seem to hover around $900 based on several of the airfare search sites (expedia, orbitz, travelocity). Is that a reasonable price, or should I wait it out a bit and possibly get a better deal?
Flying from Phoenix.
A: im flying from lax and paid 995 for a ticket. i searched and searched and that was the best deal by far! with fuel prices going up i wanted to book asap before airlines start charging extra to compensate. try travelpapa.com
Q: What is the best way to buy group airfare?
I have a family reunion in June, I heard it's supposed to be cheaper buying group airfare, but it was more than $200 higher when I called. Am I doing something wrong?
A: No, you're not necessarily doing anything wrong. Groups are not guaranteed the lowest fare in every case. Airlines restrict the number of seats on each flight that they will sell at the lowest fare. For example, if they have allocated ten seats and you have twenty people on the flight, then you probably won't be able to get it. Of course, you won't all get the lowest fare by buying individually, either.
And, of course, your itinerary has to qualify for the lowest fare (dates, advance purchase, minimum stay) in order to qualify.
If you have a large group, your best bet may be to find a good travel agent with experience booking groups. They'll shop around and advise you on the best way to go about it. You can also call the airlines yourself, but then you have to do all the work.

Q: What are the secrets to finding the cheapest airfare?
We live in Salt Lake City and we booked our hotel in Cancun, Mexico for a week long vacation in June. What are the secrets to finding the cheapest airfare?
A: This is a great site. It checks multiply sites at the same time. Due to some glitch with yahoo, I'm unable to give you a clickable link. just add the http://www.
before the link and you are good to go.
bookingbuddy.com
The trick to getting the best airfare deals are
1... to check all the sites often starting 6 months out before vacation.
2...If you fine a good price and it fits your budget, also check the airline website, they are sometimes cheaper.
3... Many times the airlines will refund your money if the airfare drops, as long as it's the same itinerary. One year we were going to St Maarten and the airline dropped the price, they refunded to my credit card the difference. Of course you have to call. Ask to speak to a supervisor if you don't get results from the first airline rep.
4.....Booking the air and land together many times saves hundreds of dollars.
5.....I do my research on line, after I know where I want to go and I have a price, I go to my local travel agency and see what they can do for me. Often they will match the price or do better. That was the case, this past May when we traveled to Cancun. We saved several hundred dollars by booking through a travel agency. It doesn't happen all the time.
I wish you a great trip and I hope these tips help you out now or in the future)
